Kveda is built so that your voice and your words stay with you. All speech is by default processed locally on your own device. Here we explain what that means, and which few pieces of information we do process.
All speech is processed locally
When you dictate with Kveda, both the audio capture and the AI processing happen by default locally on your device. Neither your audio nor the dictated text leaves your machine.
If you choose to enable Cloud AI, the finished text (never your audio) is sent encrypted to our server and on to OpenAI, which processes it and returns the result immediately. We do not store or log the content, and OpenAI does not use it for training, but may retain it for up to 30 days for safety reasons. Cloud AI is off by default and can always be turned off again.
The Kveda keyboard on phone (Android)
On phone, Kveda works as a keyboard. A keyboard can in principle see the text you type, but Kveda NEVER logs your keystrokes and never sends them anywhere.
Dictation on phone happens in the cloud: when you tap the microphone, your voice is recorded and sent encrypted to our server, which transcribes it and immediately returns the text. We never store or log your audio or the transcribed text. OpenAI performs the transcription as our data processor, does not use it for training, but may retain it for up to 30 days for security purposes.
In password and other secure fields, dictation is turned off, so audio is never sent from them.
If you choose a tone or a translation, only the finished text (never your audio) is processed in the same place. If you enter names or domain terms in the app's context field, they are sent along to improve spelling.
Account and payment
If you buy a subscription, we process your email address and your payment details. The payment itself is handled by Stripe, which acts as our data processor. We do not store your card details.
Your licence key
After purchase we send your licence key to you by email. To send it we use the email service Resend as a data processor.
Updates
Kveda periodically checks GitHub for new versions so you can keep the app up to date. When the app fetches an update, GitHub sees your IP address, as happens with any internet connection. We do not collect this information ourselves.
Dictation history
Your history of dictated text is stored solely on your own device. It is not sent to us, and you can clear it from the app at any time.
The kveda.app website
We use no tracking cookies and no analytics tools on kveda.app. We do not follow you around and build no profile on you.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request to Google's servers that includes your IP address. That is the only third party the site contacts.
Your rights
You have the right to access the information we process about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Since we deliberately process as little as possible, this is typically only your email and your purchase relationship.
To exercise your rights, write to [email protected].
Data controller
The data controller is Softify Labs, CVR 34413037. You can always contact us at [email protected].
If you disagree with how we process your data, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk).
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and give notice of material changes in the app or by email.
