kveða
Old Norse · to say, to recite, to chant words aloud
Beforeanythingwaswritten,itwasspoken.
Stories, laws and poems began with the voice. The oldest way to make language was not the pen. It was the human chanting the words forth.
Old Norse
kveða
«to say, to recite, to chant words aloud»
The name carries a legacy
In the old Nordic tradition, verses were not written first. They were chanted forth, aloud, from person to person. To chant was to give thought a voice. That is exactly what Kveda does today: you speak, and the words become finished text, right where the cursor stands.

Kveda is not just a name. It is the story of speech becoming text.
Why we built Kveda
We were tired of Danish dictation feeling like an afterthought. The tools were built for English, and Danish always came second, with wrong words and clumsy sentences. So we built our own, Danish-first, because we write all day ourselves and wanted something that actually understood us.
Who we are
Kveda is built by Softify Labs in Denmark. We build software we want to use ourselves. Kveda is live now on Linux, and we keep building in the open, together with the people who use it every day.
Danish-first
Fine-tuned for Danish, Swedish and Norwegian. Not an afterthought.
Local and private
Can run 100% on your device. Your voice does not leave it.
Faster than the key
You speak 3-4x faster than you type. Kveda captures it.
Talk. Kveda writes.
